Copycat IKEA Meatballs {21 Day Fix}

These Copycat IKEA Meatballs are perfect for a weeknight meal! We love them with egg noodles or mashed potatoes and a salad.

  • 1 lb ground beef, ground turkey, or ground chicken
  • ¼ cup whole wheat bread crumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup onion, minced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • teaspoon allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon salt and pepper


  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons whole wheat flour or 1 for 1 gluten-free flour
  • 2 cups low sodium chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon coconut aminos or low sodium soy sauce
  • cup coconut cream or plain greek yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoons freshly grated nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt and pepper



  • Preheat oven to 400°.
  • Mix all the meatball ingredients gently. Shape into loaf and slice 20 meatballs or form 20 meatballs.
  • Place on a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.


  • As the meatballs cook, melt butter in a skillet. Whisk in the flour to make a paste. Slowly whisk chicken broth and heat to bubbling. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir well.
  • Add cooked meatballs, spooning sauce over the tops. Simmer 10 minutes. Serve over whole-wheat egg noodles, brown rice, or mashed potatoes.
